My English Super Sweet 16
The English fans celebrated their trip to the World Cup's Sweet 16 with boisterous enthusiasm throughout downtown Nuremberg, but the celebration stayed under control. The police made their presence felt, but just observed the party and let things unfold. Some German fans had come out to make sure the English knew who was in charge around here, and it wouldn't have taken much more than a tossed bottle for things to get out of hand quickly, but all was good in Nuremberg on this night. (Things did get ugly between English and German fans nine days later in Stuttgart, but we were back home by then.)
